What is an Air Source Heat Pump?

An air source heat pump is a heating system which uses the outside air and turns it into a heating system for your home. It works by extracting the heat from the outside, heating it further with a refrigerant cycle and then distributes it throughout your home through systems such as radiators, underfloor heating or air vents. This an eco-friendly alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems and can also reduce your energy bills.

Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps

The purpose of an air source heat pump is using renewable energy to provide your home with warmth. There a multitude of advantages of installing an air source heat pump in your home, such as:

-    Low maintenance after initial installation
-    Safer than combustion boilers

-    Can be paired with solar panels
-    Can save you money on your energy bills
-    They are quiet and consistent

Some homeowners will also be able to benefit from a government grant which covers you for up to £7,500 towards your air source heat pump installation.

Can I get a Grant to Install an Air Source Heat Pump?

Air source heat pump installations are not cheap which is why the government have created a scheme to help some homeowners with the initial cost. On average an air source heat pump can cost anywhere between £3,000 - £14,000. With the help of the boiler scheme grant you can save up to £7,500 of your outlay.

To be eligible for this scheme, you must match the following criteria:
