Thinking of a New Central Heating System?
Anyone who has central heating will understand just how important their boiler is. If it stops working, you could well end up with no heating, and if you are using a combi boiler, you’d have no hot water either.
It’s a chilling thought, isn’t it?
A new boiler is one answer to this problem, but you may also be thinking of fitting central heating, or perhaps underfloor heating? The good news is that Sparta Mech can do any and all of these things for you. We have years of experience and a team of highly trained and certified gas engineers, just waiting to ensure your home is a cosy one, with hot water, literally on tap.
Gas Boiler – Under Floor Heating – Central Heating Specialists
New Boiler Installations. Every home appliance has a limited life span, no matter how well they are maintained. Plus, of course, as technology improves, there comes a time when it is best to install a new, more efficient boiler. There are many advantages to this. Modern units are quieter, smaller and also easier to maintain than older models.
You Can Save Money and The Planet Too
No one wants to spend more than they have to on their energy bills, and of course, if you reduce the amount of gas you are burning, then your carbon footprint will be that bit smaller. This is perhaps the main benefit of installing a new gas boiler.
Your boiler may not yet have reached the end of its useful life. However, it is worth noting that some old boilers work at less than 50% efficiency and therefore it could be a good idea to replace it.
In any case, it will require maintenance if it is to run at its optimum efficiency (thus keeping your fuel costs down) and ensure you and your families safety.
The fact is that boilers are more likely to break down when they are under an extreme load, as they are on a cold night, or when in the case of a combi boiler, the demand for hot water is high.
Maintenance is Cheaper and Less Hassle Than Most Repairs
The fact of the matter is that repairing a boiler is, in most cases, far more expensive than the cost of any maintenance plan. The added bonus being that you don’t end up shivering or having to boil a kettle for some hot water when the unit fails.

Types of Boilers That Can Be Used
The combination (also known as a ‘combi’) boiler provides both a highly efficient water heating system as well as heating the radiators, all in a single compact unit.
As these combi boilers heat water directly from your cold water supply, whenever you turn on the hot tap, there is no need for a hot water storage cylinder or a cold water storage tank in the roof space. This also saves you money as you only heat the water when you need it, rather than heating it only to let it go cold in the storage tank.
System boilers on the other hand do require a cylinder for storing your hot water. But, as the major heating and hot water system components are built into the boiler, it makes this type quicker and easier to install. Other benefits are that a loft mounted tank is not needed, thus making it an option where there is no loft or little loft space. This type of boiler can also be used with solar water heating systems.
This type of boiler (also known as traditional, conventional or heat only boilers) is most often used in homes that already have a traditional heating and hot water system.
These have a separate hot water cylinder and require a cold water storage tank in the loft to feed the hot water cylinder and another tank to maintain the water level in the radiators in the central heating system.
This often makes them the best option if you have to replace an existing boiler, especially where the property has an older radiator system, as these are often unable to cope with the higher water pressure that is delivered by system or combi boilers.
